A successful floor installation depends on preparation, precision, and high-quality materials. Whether you are working with hardwood, tile, or resilient flooring, following the correct process ensures durability and long-term performance. Below are eight professional tips to help you achieve excellent results.
Every effective floor installation begins with a stable, even foundation. Before laying any flooring, check that the subfloor is clean, level, and structurally sound. Irregular areas can cause cracking or premature wear. After leveling, clean the surface thoroughly and apply a suitable primer. A properly prepared subfloor ensures strong adhesion between the surface and your flooring adhesive.
Before installing hardwood flooring, allow the materials to adjust to the site’s temperature and humidity. Unacclimated boards may expand or shrink after installation, leading to gaps or lifted edges. Provide adequate acclimation time between delivery and installation to ensure dimensional stability and a long-lasting finish.
3. Choose the Right Adhesive
Selecting the right adhesive is one of the most critical factors in any floor installation. Different flooring types require different adhesive properties to achieve optimal bonding and flexibility.
MS Polymer Wood Flooring Adhesive – Suitable for all kinds of wood flooring installations. The eco-friendly floor adhesive offers high bonding strength, elasticity, and moisture resistance.
Polyurethane Wood Flooring Adhesive – Recommended for all wood floors, especially those installed over underfloor-heating systems. It features outstanding heat resistance and long-term stability.
Acrylic Adhesive for Resilient Flooring – Designed for various resilient flooring applications, providing excellent flexibility, strong adhesion, and easy spreadability for large surfaces.
When choosing an adhesive, consider environmental safety as well. Low-VOC, eco-certified adhesives help maintain healthy indoor air quality and meet modern sustainability standards.
4. Leave Proper Expansion Gaps
Even acclimated flooring can expand and contract with temperature and humidity changes. Leave a 10–15 mm expansion gap around all room edges to prevent buckling or deformation. Cover the gaps with skirting boards or moldings for a clean, professional appearance.
5. Allow Adequate Installation Time
Quality floor installation takes time. Each step—especially adhesive curing and grouting—must be allowed to set completely. For tile floors, wait at least 24 hours before grouting to ensure the mortar has cured. Rushing can lead to loose tiles or discolored grout.
6. Remove Grout Residue Carefully
After grouting, remove any residue from tile surfaces before it hardens. Remaining film can leave dull or streaky marks. Use an alcohol-based cleaner or a professional grout remover for best results.
7. Apply Final Sealing
Unglazed or natural-stone tiles require sealing after installation to prevent moisture absorption and staining.
Even for glazed tiles, sealing grout lines helps protect against dirt and makes future maintenance easier.
8. Review Warranty and Technical Specifications
Incorrect floor installation or the use of unsuitable materials may void product warranties. Always follow manufacturer recommendations for adhesives, underlayment, and tools.
By choosing reliable, professionally tested adhesives—such as our MS Polymer, Polyurethane, and Acrylic ranges—you ensure compliance with industry standards and preserve warranty coverage.
