From the molecular structure, it can be seen that the polymer main chain of MS sealant is completely different from silicone sealant, which is a new generation of building sealant developed after polysulfide glue, silicone sealant and polyurethane sealant.

Polysulfide sealant is gradually withdrawn from industrial use because of its low temperature curing speed, easy aging and hardening, lack of durability, and with a strong irritating odor.

Polyurethane sealant (mainly used in industrial adhesive) has the characteristics of high strength, tear resistance, soft wear resistance, puncture resistance, oil resistance, medium corrosion resistance, etc., but ordinary polyurethane sealant often contains free isocyanate, irritating odor during construction, harmful to health, while the curing process will release carbon dioxide and easy to produce bubbles, affecting the appearance and mechanical properties of the adhesive.

Silicone sealant (most of the glass glue and curtain wall glue on the market) has the characteristics of fast curing, non-foaming, firm bonding with the surface of non-porous materials, excellent moisture and heat resistance, aging resistance, good storage stability, etc., but low tearing strength, no puncture resistance, the adhesive layer is easy to produce oil-like dialysis contaminating concrete, stone and other ornaments, poor decoration. And do not paint.

MS sealant combines most of the advantages of silicone rubber and polyurethane sealant, and the comprehensive performance is very outstanding:

1) Extensive adhesion to the substrate: Due to the low surface energy and high permeability of end-silyl polyether, it has good wetting ability for most inorganic, metal and plastic substrates, resulting in good adhesion to the substrate.

2) Environmental protection: silane-modified polyether is a long chain structure of silanoxy terminated polyether, unlike polyurethane sealant containing toxic isocyanate groups and divorced cyanate esters. Silane-modified polyether has a low viscosity, has good workability, and does not require the use of organic solvents to regulate the process handling performance of the formulation, so the silane-modified polyether adhesive has a very low volatile organic compounds (VOC) content.

3) Coating ability: the surface of ordinary silicone sealant can not be painted, and can only be deployed to the color required by the user according to the needs of the user; The silane modified polyether adhesive can be painted and painted, and has good coating property.

4) Dirt resistance is higher than silicone adhesive: it will not escape oily molecules to pollute the surface and joints of building materials, and maintain the beauty of the building for a long time. Silicone adhesive will precipitate small molecules, and together with rain and dust, form stains that are difficult to remove on the appearance of the building. Better weather resistance than polyurethane sealant.

5) Weather resistance is stronger than polyurethane sealant: the entire three-dimensional network cross-linked structure is composed of the Si-O-Si chemical bond and flexible polyether chain segments. The existence of Si-O-Si bond makes MS sealant have good aging resistance and weather resistance, and the macromolecular flexible polyether chain segment gives MS adhesive good flexibility and high extensibility.
