Sealant is mainly used in three aspects on our doors and windows:
(1) First, during the installation process, sealant must be applied to the inside and outside of the combination of the frame and the wall. This sealant is called thick-resistant sealant. This sealant is made of silicone, so it is also called thick-resistant silicone. Ketone sealant.
(2) The second part is when we inject sealant into our aluminum profile doors and windows, we need to inject corner sealant and drive the sealant to the corners of the doors and windows.
At this time, it is divided into two types. Corner sealant is divided into single-component and two-component. Single-component mainly has a very slow curing time, while two-component has a faster curing time, so we recommend using two-component corner sealant.
Of course, the sealant injection at the corners is not for sealing, but mainly to improve the strength of our entire main frame, which determines the structural stability of your entire frame in the future.
Especially the frame of the window sash, after being sealantd, has a very good basic guarantee for future glass load-bearing and hardware load-bearing.
(3) The third sealant is two kinds of sealant used in the production process of insulating glass.
One is butyl rubber, which serves as a primary seal to prevent air leakage; the other sealant serves as a secondary seal, generally silicone sealant is used in China and polysulfide rubber is used abroad.

What is "inferior sealant":
Silicone sealants commonly used in home decoration doors and windows are mainly composed of three parts: silicone base polymer, fillers, and additives.
Among these three types of materials, silicone base polymer has the highest content. The content of silicone base polymer in high-quality silicone sealant products can reach 50%, and its cost often accounts for more than 75% of the entire raw material cost.
Because the raw materials of silicone-based polymers are expensive, inferior sealants are replaced by oil-filled ones.
There is no difference in appearance between oil-filled sealant and non-oil-filled sealant. Some oil-filled sealants are even more glamorous in appearance. However, after actual use, it is found that the performance of oil-filled sealant will be greatly reduced.
If the insulating glass is sealed with this kind of oil-filled sealant, after using it for a period of time, you will find black flow on the edge of the glass. This flow is called the "tearing phenomenon" of the insulating glass, and this situation is unacceptable.
"Sealant" construction details:
Foam and dust should be cleaned before gluing. If there are water stains, you need to wait until they are dry, otherwise the adhesion will not be good and it will easily lead to leakage problems later.
It takes about 1-2 days for the sealant to dry and harden. During this period, on-site construction workers need to be reminded not to damage it by accidental contact;
If there is subsequent construction such as tiles and window sill boards on the exterior windowsill, sealant needs to be replenished after completion.
In the case of preventing water leakage, it is necessary to ensure that the appearance of the exterior wall sealant is smooth and beautiful, to increase the visual experience, and to avoid random application of sealant and fewer missed applications.
