1. Composition of polysulfide sealant
Polysulfide:
The main component of polysulfide sealant is polysulfide compound, usually composed of polysulfide polymer. Polysulfide compounds are highly flexible and elastic, allowing sealants to maintain their shape and have good resilience under stress.
Vulcanizing agent:
Vulcanizing agent is one of the key ingredients in the curing of polysulfide sealant. After the sealant is applied or injected into the application area, the vulcanizing agent reacts with the polysulfide compound to form a cross-linked structure that gradually hardens the sealant over a period of time. This hardening process causes the polysulfide sealant to form a soft and elastic gel after application.
Fillers:
In order to improve the mechanical properties, thermal stability and wear resistance of polysulfide sealants, some fillers, such as silica, alumina, etc., are usually added. Filler selection and content can be adjusted to specific application needs.
2. Properties of polysulfide sealant
Chemical resistance:
Polysulfide sealant shows good resistance to many chemical substances, which makes it widely used in chemical industry, petroleum, aviation and other fields. It can resist acid and alkali corrosion and maintain its sealing performance.
High temperature resistance:
Polysulfide sealants generally have high temperature resistance and can remain stable in high temperature environments. This gives it unique advantages in some high-temperature industrial fields, such as the sealing of components inside automobile engines.
Insulating properties:
Due to the electrical insulating properties of polysulfide compounds, polysulfide sealants play an important role in the packaging and insulation of some electronic devices and electrical components. It prevents current leakage and improves the safety of electrical equipment.
Elasticity and resilience:
Polysulfide sealant has excellent elasticity and resilience, allowing it to quickly return to its original shape after being squeezed or stretched. This elasticity helps polysulfide sealants adapt to sealing needs of different shapes and sizes and maintain long-term sealing effects.

3. The role of polysulfide sealant
Sealing performance:
Polysulfide sealants have excellent sealing properties, filling and sealing joints to prevent the penetration of gases, liquids or moisture. This makes it widely used in construction, aerospace, automotive and other fields.
Insulating properties:
Due to its electrical insulation properties, polysulfide sealants are often used in the packaging of electronic devices and electrical equipment to effectively prevent current leakage and improve the reliability and safety of equipment.
Chemical resistance:
Polysulfide sealant shows good resistance to chemicals such as acids and alkalis, so it is widely used in equipment sealing in some chemical and petroleum industries, and can resist corrosion and erosion from chemical media.
High temperature resistance:
In high-temperature environments such as automobile engine rooms, polysulfide sealants can remain stable and will not lose sealing performance due to temperature changes. They have good high-temperature resistance.
