The curing of single-component silicone sealant is related to the ambient temperature and air humidity. Especially since the beginning of autumn, the overall ambient temperature is low and the temperature difference between day and night is large, and the air humidity is low, resulting in a slow curing speed of silicone sealant.

For the sealant used to seal the joints of curtain walls, when the curtain wall panels are large or the expansion coefficient of the panel substrate is large (mainly metal curtain walls such as aluminum veneer or aluminum-plastic panel), the displacement of the panel sealant joint is more obvious, causing the rubber strip in the sealant joint to also be subjected to the force of hot pressing and cold drawing, but because the overall ambient temperature is low, the rubber strip cannot be completely cured within a hot pressing and cold drawing time period.

When the rubber strip is in an uncured or semi-cured state, the hot pressing and cold drawing force will have an adverse effect on the final curing performance and all life of the rubber strip, and will cause the sealant joint to bulge, with a poor appearance and irreversible.

In order to minimize the adverse effects of the autumn and winter environment on the use of silicone adhesive for construction, the following measures are recommended:

01 It is not recommended to apply sealant outdoors when the ambient temperature is below 5℃. In this case, the probability of bulging of the sealant joints of the sealantd curtain wall is high and the performance of the sealant will decrease after curing.

02 When applying sealant to the inner sash of doors and windows or processing the unit components of the glass curtain wall, because the construction environment is indoors, the ambient temperature is low and the air is dry, the indoor environment can be artificially adjusted through air conditioning, heating and humidifiers to ensure the normal curing of silicone adhesive: At the same time, you should also choose a sealant product that cures faster, such as Wosaida's 7008 engineering silicone weather-resistant sealant, which is a room temperature curing product with fast curing.
