How to prevent sealant from "bulging"?

The fundamental reason for the "bulging" phenomenon is that the sealant is subjected to large displacement deformation during the curing process. It is the result of the combined effect of factors such as the sealant curing speed, the size of the glue seam, the panel material and size, the construction environment, and the construction quality. So how to prevent the sealant from "bulging"?

1.Choose a sealant with a relatively fast curing speed.
In addition to environmental factors, the curing speed is mainly determined by the formula characteristics of the sealant itself. Use a sealant with a curing speed that is adjusted for a specific use environment to reduce the chance of "bulging".
2. Construction time selection
Construction should be carried out as soon as possible on cloudy days, because the temperature difference between day and night is small on cloudy days, the deformation of the sealant joint is small, and it is not easy to bulge. Use appropriate shading measures, such as using dustproof nets to cover the scaffolding, so that the panel is not directly exposed to the sun, reduce the temperature of the panel, and reduce the deformation of the joint caused by the temperature difference. Choose the right time to apply the sealant.
3. Use open-cell backing materials
Facilitate air circulation and accelerate the curing speed of the sealant. Sometimes, the foam rod is too wide and deformed during construction, which can also cause bulging.
4. Apply sealant to the seams for the second time.
First, apply a layer of sealant to the concave seams, and wait for them to solidify for 2 to 3 days and become elastic, then apply another layer of sealant on the surface. This method can ensure that the surface sealant seams are smooth and beautiful.
