Why is epoxy resin better than white latex?

Epoxy Resin, is A common thermosetting resin, the most common on the market is bisphenol A type epoxy resin. Because of its active physical and chemical properties, the material has many functions and a wide range of uses. It is most commonly found in electronics factories and construction sites around us, used as adhesives and paints.

White latex, the technical name of polyvinyl acetate adhesive, is a white emulsion of water-soluble adhesive. Because of the advantages of good paste effect, easy to use, and preferential prices, it has become the most familiar adhesive in our daily life. For example, our furniture, textile, and paper industries are very fond of using white latex (because it is cheap and easy to use).

But then again, will some people ask if the surface without epoxy resin is that bad? In fact, it is not, after all, the quality of the board is still determined by the layers of wood. Whether it is the overall toughness, or the strength and elasticity of the board, it is inseparable from the quality of the wood you choose. The epoxy resin/ordinary glue plays the role of bonding, the difference between the two lies in the effect of bonding and the weight added to the board. In the case of using the same wood material, white latex is soft after bonding and drying, and epoxy resin will be harder after drying, so that the elasticity of the board will be better than that of white latex.

In order to save the cost of production, many skateboard factories choose to use white latex to glue these layers of wood chips. Although the price of white latex is cheap, it still has disadvantages:

1. White latex, like many glues, has poor water resistance and will soften faster in long-term wet weather than epoxy resin

2. Poor quality white latex in storage for a period of time, there will be film softening, degumming phenomenon, and this is sometimes the board after a long time to lose elasticity, the board of the wood layer is also easy to crack

3. The drying speed is slower than other glues during processing

From all aspects, white latex is not a suitable glue for the production of plates, and even worse than the same type of glue. Compared with epoxy resin, it is more suitable for printing and textile industries where the bonding effect is not so high.
