“ Silicone sealant is a paste made of polydimethylsiloxane as the main raw material, supplemented by cross-linking agent, filler, plasticizer, coupling agent, and catalyst mixed in a vacuum state. It solidifies at room temperature through reaction with water in the air to form elastic silicone rubber. So how to use silicone sealant safely and correctly？ ”

1. Use a sealant gun to apply the silicone sealant.

If you don't have a silicone gun, consider cutting the bottle with a blade and then applying the sealant with a spatula or wood chip. Use adhesive tape to cover the outside to avoid smearing other places.

2. Sealant curing process

The curing process of silicone sealant develops from the surface to the inside. The surface drying time and curing time of sealants with different characteristics are different, so if you want to repair the surface, you must do it before the silicone sealant dries.

3.Sealant curing time

The curing time of silicone sealant increases with the thickness of the bond. For example, a 12mm thick acid silicone sealant may take 3-4 days to solidify, but within about 24 hours, the outer layer of 3mm has solidified.

Before the silicone sealant is cured, it can be wiped off with a cloth or paper towel. After it is cured, it must be scraped off with a scraper or scrubbed with solvents such as xylene and acetone.
