Anaerobic adhesives, also known as anaerobic adhesives, anaerobic adhesives, thread adhesives, and mechanical adhesives, are also known as "anaerobic locking (tightening) agents" abroad. They are a new type of sealing adhesive. Anaerobic adhesive is a one-component solvent-free adhesive that is in a liquid state when oxygen is present; the so-called "anaerobic" means that once the adhesive is cut off from oxygen, it can quickly solidify under the catalysis of surface metal elements to form Strong bonding interface.
The curing of anaerobic adhesive requires two conditions:
1. Isolate oxygen;
2. Contact with metal surface.
Therefore, anaerobic adhesives cannot bond glass, plastic or rubber.
Principle of anaerobic adhesive curing: When oxygen is cut off, the trace oxygen dissolved in the anaerobic adhesive is consumed by the generated free radicals, which in turn triggers polymerization and cross-linking curing. In addition to free radical polymerization that blocks oxygen, the curing of anaerobic adhesives also involves anionic polymerization in the presence of metal ions. Therefore, curing is affected by the surface properties and physical state of the adherend.
1. Active surface: steel, iron, copper, manganese, aluminum alloy, etc.;
2. Inert surfaces: pure aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, gold, silver, glass, ceramics, etc., need to be pre-coated with surfactant to accelerate;
3. Hysteretic surface: Some anodized, oxidized or electroplated surfaces need to be pre-coated with surfactant to cure.

Anaerobic adhesives have the following characteristics:
1. It has good properties such as heat resistance, pressure resistance, low temperature resistance, chemical resistance, impact resistance, shock absorption, anti-corrosion, and anti-fog.
2. The overflow sealant from the sealant seams does not solidify and is easy to remove.
3. Solvent-free, low toxicity, little harm, no pollution, wide range of uses, sealing, locking, holding, bonding, plugging, etc. can be stored stably. The storage period of the sealant is generally three years.
Anaerobic adhesives have become an indispensable liquid tool in the machinery industry because of their unique anaerobic adhesive curing properties. It can be used in locking, sealing, holding, bonding, plugging, sealing, fastening, anti-loosening and other processes. At the same time, it is also widely used in aerospace, military industry, automobile, machinery, electronics, electrical and other fields.
Typical cases are the bonding of pipe flat seals, cylindrical retaining, thread locking and other accessories. The following will focus on the composition of anaerobic adhesives.
